Sea Sickness

I sometimes get motion sickness in the car. Should I worry about sea sickness on my cruise? --Stephanie, Clarksville, TN

Getting motion sickness in a car is different from being on a cruise ship and getting sea sickness. Sometimes people who get motion sickness easily find that on a cruise ship, they don't even feel the movement of the ship! The cruise ships have stabilizers that help keep everything balanced while the ship is on the ocean.

In case you feel some motion, I would recommend taking some motion sickness medication or patches on the cruise with you just in case. These items are also usually available for purchase on the ship. You wouldn't want to feel sick on your vacation! Usually, though, you just need to give yourself a little bit of time to get used to the slight movement your body feels, also known as getting your "sea legs."
